About
A former agricultural building that housed newborn animals from the farm, we’ve designed Petite Maison de Mouton to be a sanctuary in the middle beautiful limousin countryside combining modern 21st century comforts with nature and peace and calm.
The village of Azat-Le-Ris is as quintessentially Limousin as they come. A sea of farms as far as the eye can see it becomes clear very quickly why people are so happy, healthy… and well fed in these parts! As soon as we arrived a wave of peace, calm and tranquillity washed over us and we hope the same will be true for all our guests at the Petite Maison.
We’ve taken great care when converting the barn to be true to its former use, the name is obviously a nod to its former job at one time housing lambs, and unlike so many properties similar who would fill the inside and out with modern building materials to pretend its a normal, and we think boring, modern home, everywhere you look around the Petite Maison its previous history is obvious, from the original centre beam and stone walls created using lime mortar applied in traditional ancient ways, to the master bedroom being created from the upstairs hayloft, to the lines on the face of this old beautiful building, to the planters in the garden from around the property repurposed from their original use as animal drinking troughs. When adding those modern touches that are essential for 21st century guests theyre just that, added, to this old building and its layers of history.
Our ethos really is ‘home away from home’ and we want our guests to be completely at home from the minute they arrive and so as much as we hope all guests will leave us feeling relaxed, recharged and rejuvenated having ha a stay away from the hustle and bustle of normal life, we understand that people need, or want, some of the essential distractions of normal life, thats why we have provided fast internet avasilable throughout the property (80Mbps) via Wi-Fi, a large screen flat panel smart TV, Orange TV for French language channels and FREESAT for English language UK channels. A DVD player and a selection of DVDs is available for movie nights, or if you do want to get back to basics theres a seection of french and english language books, and cards and board games for entertainment!
